He was the loving son of Lowery Hartford and Lena McDole Day. He was raised on Pleasant Ridge in Jefferson County and attended Central High School. He was united in marriage on March 24, 1965 at the Manville Christian Church to Carolyn Jean Ashby. He was the loving son of Lowery Hartford and Lena McDole Day. He was raised on Pleasant Ridge in Jefferson County and attended Central High School. He was united in marriage on March 24, 1965 at the Manville Christian Church to Carolyn Jean Ashby. Charles was inducted in the United States Army and was honorably discharged from the Indiana National Guard. This happy union of 49 years was blessed with daughters, Cathy and Stephanie, and sons, Gregory Edward, Kevin Daniel, and Brian Andrew. He started employment with Rotary Lift in 1965 and retired as a shear operator in 2005. A member of the Manville Christian Church, Charles enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, raising vegetables, and collecting stamps. He was a devoted husband, loving dad and grandpa. Charles died on Thursday, October 28, 2021, at 8:50 p.m. at his home in Madison, Indiana. A LOVING FAMILY Charles will be missed by his loving daughters, Cathy Allen and her husband, Derek of Vevay, Indiana, Stephanie Day and companion, Ray of Madison, Indiana; his loving sons, Gregory Edward Day of Madison, Indiana, Kevin Daniel Day and his companion, Lissie of Madison, Indiana, Brian Andrew Day and his wife, Amanda of Madison, Indiana; his grandchildren, Adam Day (Ashley), Seth Schafer (Taryn), Brayden Allen, Sarah Day, Brooke Day (Robbie Woolf), Taylor Day, Faith Day, Shawn Pennington; his great grandchildren, Charlie, Taylor and Savannah; his brother, Danny Day and his wife Connie of Madison, Indiana; his sisters in law, Polly Temple of Milton, Kentucky, Pamela Scroggin Phillips and her husband, Joseph of Madison, Indiana, Marcella Stewart and her companion, Terry Wells of Madison, Indiana; his brother in law, William "Bill" Warren and his wife, Juanita of Madison, Indiana; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Lowery Hartford Day, his mother, Lena M. McDole Day, infant brother, Arnold Day; his beloved wife of 49 years, Carolyn Jean Ashby Day, died May 13, 2014. FUNERAL CEREMONY Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, October 31, 2021, at 1:00 p.m., by Bro. George Severn at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, 800 East Main Street, Vevay, Indiana VISITATION Friends may call Saturday from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. MILITARY HONORS A final salute and military honors will be conducted by the Major Samuel Woodfill Post No. 9 of the American Legion. MEMORIAL EXPRESSIONS Memorial contributions may be made to the Manville Christian Church or Remembrance fund for his grandchildren.
