Read More	The Garfield Enterprise Friday, October 23, 1942 Front Page Earl Daniels Dies of Heart Attack Death Comes As Shock To Many Friends Here C.Earl Daniel, 55, manager of the Washington Water Power Company in Oakesdale since 1937, passed away Thursday morning in his sleep from a heart attack. Mrs. Daniel was about his work as usual the day before and his passing came as a shock to the community. He was born in Kansas and came to Riparia,Washington in 1919 and to Garfield in 1921. He entered the emply of the Washington Water Power Company in 1927. At Garfield he was a member of the Masons, Eastern Star, and Odd Fellows lodges. Surviving are two sons: Leo Daniel, Spokane and Carl Daniel, U. S. Army, New York; four sisters: Mrs. D.B. Moore, Moscow, Idaho; Mrs. Mammie Lewis, Beverstar, Oregon; Mrs. Atha Harryman, Saginaw, Missouri adn Mrs. S.T. Clark, American Falls, Idaho. Mr. Daniel was active in the Oakesdale Chamber of Commerce. Funeral services were held at the Christian church in Garfield, Sunday, with Rev. C.M. Hereford officiating. Music was by Mrs. Clive Gwinn, Mrs. Robert Dalle, Mrs. H.P. Fisher, Ray Love and Warren Love. Pallbearers were P.T. Bockmier, F.H. Smith, E.S. Root, W.E.Rutherford, P.C. Kerr, Ernest Hemingway. Interment was in the Garfield cemetery with Masonic burial rites. ------------------------------------------ When interviewed by the Enterprise, Mr. Lewis, Div. Mgr., and Mr. Beckmier, District Manager, has this to say: "The Washington Water Power Company appreciates teh fine cooperation that Oakesdale has given us for many years. Especially on, has this been noticeable within recent years, and we attribute it to the friendliness, the courtesy, amd the willingnes to serve, whether it is within the regular hours, of Mr. Earl Daniels our manager at Oakesdale for the past four years. The company appreciates the Christian spirit of the Oakesdale people-their fine response and williness to recognize Mr. Daniel's character adn devotion to his work, and to the prosperity and well-being of Oakesdale. Mr. Daniel was above the average in clean, wholesome, upright living. His personal life was exemplary. He was honorable, straight-forward, and honest in all his dealings, and people had great confidence in him. He was a good mechanic and a splendid electrial man. He had been with the company for many years. He was frugal and had no extravagant habits. He lived withtn his income and was scrupulously careful aout attention to all of his financial obligations,and at the same time he was liberal with his money. Earl contributed from his personal funds to many a charity and worhtwhile object. He was considerate and even indulgent regarding finances with his two boys, whom he had raised from childhood with the advantage and help and guidance of a mother. I presume this thing of having of having to be the father and the mother also; made him usually susceptible to the desires and pleasures of children, for he was sympathetic, understanding and so good to so many of them. Upon his unfortunate death, I am told, a group of youngsters stood on the corner discussing the matter, and tears were in their eyes. I think no finer tribute to any man could be paid than this touching exhibition of love by the children of the community. Our company will seriously miss his efficient help, and we mourn his loss along with those who thought so much of him. It has been a great privilege to have had this kind of a man to our employ, and we want to publicly recognize it and command his type and his life to all our our employees."
