Description	:	Charles "Chuck" E. Luke, 81, formerly of Yankton, died Sunday, June 20, 1993, at Sioux Valley Hospital at Sioux Falls. Mr. Luke was born May 27, 1912, at Avon. He was raised in Avon and graduated from Tyndall High School. He married Dorothy Louise Scott on Sept. 3, 1935, at Yankton. The couple moved to Oregon, where he worked at the Aluminum Plant of America during World War II. Read More	Charles "Chuck" E. Luke, 81, formerly of Yankton, died Sunday, June 20, 1993, at Sioux Valley Hospital at Sioux Falls. Mr. Luke was born May 27, 1912, at Avon. He was raised in Avon and graduated from Tyndall High School. He married Dorothy Louise Scott on Sept. 3, 1935, at Yankton. The couple moved to Oregon, where he worked at the Aluminum Plant of America during World War II. After the war, they returned to Tyndall for a few years before moving to Yankton, where they lived until 1982. To be closer to family, they divided their time between Hartford and Mesa, Arizona. He was a 35-year member of the Yankton Chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous and was active in representing them as both a state and national delegate. He was a charter member of the Yankton Sertoma Club and a member of the South Dakota Mayflower Society. Survivors include his wife; one son, Warren of Hartford; one daughter, Earline Bairnsfather of Mesa; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters: Bernice Lange of Newell; and Norma Peschl of Tyndall; four step grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren; and one step great-great-grandchild.
