Burial was at the church cemetery. *** Charles was born on Feb. 26, 1919, north of Upland, Neb., in Kearney County to John J. B. and Mariane (Paulsen) Nielsen. He grew up north of Upland and graduated from Upland High School. Charles attended Dana College, where he met and later married Marilyn M. Seger. They had the same birthday, Feb. 26, and were married on that special day in 1942 at Marilyn's parents' home in Omaha. Their life was devoted to working the family farm south of Minden. After retiring from farming, they moved to Minden. Charles was employed by Tri-County Irrigation District from 1969 to 1981. Charles was an active member of Fredericksburg Lutheran Church, south of Minden, where he served on many committees and boards. He was very meticulous about everything. He had a talent for woodworking and carpentry. He and Marilyn gardened, worked in the yard, canned produce and quilted together. They truly enjoyed their 69 years of married life. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn of Minden; two sons, Gary Nielsen and his wife Mary of Minden, and Terry Nielsen and his wife Sandy of Bellevue, Neb.; daughter, Sharie Hubert and her husband Andy of Geneva; nine grandchil dren, Kay Holt and her husband Rusty, Kevin Nielsen and his wife Sabrina, Kurt Nielsen and his wife Stephanie, Kim Quandt and her husband Karl, Kent Nielsen and his wife Holly, Megan Vander Haar and her husband Jade, Erik Nielsen, Paul Hubert, and Evan Hubert; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. He was preceded in death by two sisters and six brothers.
