Kerlin, 59, veteran conductor of the Iowa and Dakota division of the Milwaukee Road, who died suddenly in a hotel lobby at Marquette at midnight Thursday, will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Patterson funeral home, with the Rev. Marvin B. Kober, pastor of the First Methodist church, conducting the services. Mr. Kerlin was born at Rudd May 2, 1884. He had been in the service of the Milwaukee road for the past 33 years and died suddenly as he was about to report for his run, from Marquette. Mr. Kerlin resided at the Park Inn hotel when in Mason City. Surviving are 2 brothers, W.R. Kerlin, 530 7th street S.E., and Roy Kerlin, Rudd. Mr. Kerlin was a member of the Elks lodge and the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen, and the Methodist church at Rudd. Burial will be at the Rudd cemetery. Kober, pastor of the first Methodist church, conducting the services. Mrs. Harold Wolfe sang "The 23rd Psalm" and "Lead Kindly Light" Mrs. Roscoe E. Patton accompanied. Pallbearers were Ray Borgardus, Claude Quimby, Gerald West, Paul Pallon, Gordon Leach and Archer Adams, all members of the Elks lodge. Burial was at the Rudd cemetery. The Patterson funeral home in charge.
