Read More	Humboldt Union, 29 July 1905, Sat, Page 2 Charles Elliott Norton was born in Pittsburg, Pa., on August 5, 1843. He died July 13, 1905 at his home in Kansas City, Kansas. Mr. Norton lived in the city of Pittsburg until the war broke out when he enlisted in Co. E 68th Pennsylvania. He served his country as a soldier two years and six months and fourteen days. On Sept 25, 1868, he was married to Minerva Baker, who survives him. Seven children were born to them, five of whom are still living, two dying in early childhood. Those left to mourn the loss of a faithful husband and loving father, are the wife, one son, F. J. Norton, of this city, and four daughters-Mrs. Harry T Rice, of Omaha, Neb., Mrs. J. Ayers Smith, of this city; Misses Meda and May Norton, who live at home with their mother in Kansas City. Mr. Norton was a member of the Christian church and his funeral was conducted from the church of that denomination in this city, Rev McFarland officiating, after which the body was laid to rest in Mount Hope cemetery. Many beautiful flora tributes were sent by the friends of the deceased from Kansas City, also many were given by Humboldt friends. Mr Norton was a very patient sufferer and for many weeks he was at the point of death. A trip was made to the country thinking a change like that might better his condition, but to no avail. All the best medical aid possible was given him but death had set its seal and he suffered until he had given up his span of life and then gave up his burdens peacefully. The friends of the bereaved family extend to them their heartfelt sympathy.
