When this call comes for those who are near and dear it causes deep sor- row in our hearts. In the death of Chas. Foust the entire community has been suronded in a heavy cloud of sorrow, that one so noble, pure and starting out with a new compan- ion to help him over lifes rugged path, should be cut down so early in life. Amid the joys of the wedding done God saw a need for this young man and called him home. Chs. Foust was born in Polk county near Altoona on March 18, 1883. He had lived and associated with the people of this place and community his entire life endearing himself to them. On Tuesday, Feb- ruary 16, 1904 he was married to Miss Jennie Yant, one week from the wedding day he was taken sick and after an illness of but four days dur- ing which time all was done that hu- man hands could do to stay his nob- le life. Death came on Sunday Feb- ruary 28, 1904 and carried his spirit home, leaving a loving bride of scarcely two weeks a sorrowing wid- ow. She does not mourn alone, a father, mother, and sister with other relatives and a score of loving friends friends are bowing their heads in grief at the loss of a kind and lov- ing husband, son, brother and friend. He was the only son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Foust living north of town and besides his parents and the lov- ing wife he leaves a sister Mrs. Jas. Edwards of Tilden, Nebraska. Funeral services were held at the Christian church of which he was a member, by Rev. B. D. Clark, at 3 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, March 1, 1904, only two weeks to the hour from the day upon which his marri- age ceremony had accurred. The remains were tenderly laid to rest by loving hands in the Altoona cemetery. Many beautiful floral peices were contributed by kind friends, a beautiful boquet from the Helping Hand Society. A harp of carnations and roses from the young men and other peices. The family has the sympathy of the entire com munity in their bereavement.
