Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 17, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with the Rev. Herbert Tegeler officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 16, at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a parish scripture service at 5 p.m. He was born on July 3, 1918, in Dyersville, son of Herman and Philamina (Wilhelm) Wieneke. He married Imogene Beckmann on May 3, 1943, in Dyersville. In the 1930s he played in the Dyersville Band with his father, and after high school he toured the Midwest as a professional musician. He served his country during World War II in the Army Air Corps as a communication specialist, and part of his service included membership in the military band. In the 1950s he studied art and took correspondence courses from the Minneapolis School of Art. After the war, he was self-employed and owned an electronics repair shop and later was employed at the All Steel Truck Co. in Dyersville. He later operated Quipmatic, his own steel fabrication business in Rockford, Ill., where he made equipment for the food processing and automobile industries. He enjoyed all forms of electronic gadgets, including computers and his new iPod. He also worked crossword puzzles and enjoyed an occasional fly-fishing trip. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. Surviving are his wife, Imogene; a daughter, Trudy A. (William) Schade, of Windsor, Colo.; sons, John C. (Virginia), of Santa Rosa, Calif., and James A. (Nancy), of Issaquah, Wash.; and grandchildren, Christopher (Neelm) Schade, of Discovery Bay, Calif., Gregory Schade, of Fort Collins, Colo., Benjamin Wieneke, a student at Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wis., and Thomas Wieneke, of Issaquah. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Richard, Robert and Lionel; and sisters, Shirley Hageman, Helen Weber and Viola Goephardt.
