Description	:	Charles Francis Stroman was born near the town of Wolcottville, Lagrange, IN to Samuel and Catherine Bower(s) Stroman. In February of 1871 the family, along with daughter Sylvia Estella, arrived in Nebraska and homesteaded in Seward County and resided there until 1879 when they moved into Butler Co. in the Village of Ulysses. Charles went through the Ulysses school graduating in 1889. He taught a term of school and then entered the University of Nebraska where he graduated in 1893. Read More	Charles Francis Stroman was born near the town of Wolcottville, Lagrange, IN to Samuel and Catherine Bower(s) Stroman. In February of 1871 the family, along with daughter Sylvia Estella, arrived in Nebraska and homesteaded in Seward County and resided there until 1879 when they moved into Butler Co. in the Village of Ulysses. Charles went through the Ulysses school graduating in 1889. He taught a term of school and then entered the University of Nebraska where he graduated in 1893. While at UNL, he starred in baseball both at Ulysses and at the University. He then entered law school and received his degree in law degree in 1895. For a short time he was with a law firm in Omaha but set out on his own in 1896 and opened a law practice in York, NE. He was elected County Treasurer for a term and then accepted an assistant cashier position with the German-American Bank from 1908-1913. The work was not what he wanted so he went back to his law and had a very successful practice. Charles frequently served as Assistant County Judge, a position he filled with humanitarianism and understanding. He also enjoyed hunting. He was happily married to widow Della Ann (Working) White on July 13, 1929 and they lived the rest of their lives in York. He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Knights of Pythias and the Elks. He had a sister, Sylvia Stroman Aldrich, who died in 1939, married to NE Gov. Chester H Aldrich, Sr and a younger brother Burr Ray Stroman of Ulysses, NE. Charlie died of a stroke on January 22, 1948 in York, NE.
