Charles Frank Fetter was born December 20, 1922, on a farm near Chelsea, IA. His parents were Frank Fetter and Emma Sichra Fetter Dixon. He received his education in St. Joseph's Catholic School in Chelsea. He was married to Evelyn Sophia Arens on January 17, 1945, in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Brooklyn. They were the parents of three children, John, Joanne and Beverly. He worked as a farm hand at Newhall, Chelsea and Blairstown and later he farmed with his brother-in-laws, Alfred Peska and Charlie Arens. Charles and Evelyn farmed south of Chelsea for many years before moving to Toledo two years ago. Charles was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Brooklyn, and Poweshiek County Farm Bureau. He was a former member of the NFO. He enjoyed farming and visiting his neighbors. His parents and two sisters, Ann Braasch and Ruth Maule, preceded him in death. Surviving are his wife, Evelyn; his children, John Fetter and wife Jane of Chelsea, Joanne Slaughter of Cedar Rapids, and Beverly Childress and husband Kenneth of Cedar Rapids; one brother, Frank Fetter, of Toledo; and five grandchildren, Jared Fetter, Jill Curphy, Brandy Ricker, Cheryl Childress and Jamie Childress.
