Moravetz, a life-long resident of the Ogden vicinity, were held Saturday afternoon, March 13. The Rev. Deane Chapman conducted a prayer service at the funeral home and further rites at the Ogden Methodist church. During the services Mrs. Blanche Kinkner and Mrs. F. A. Mershom of Boone, accompanied by Mrs. G. H. Sutton of Boone, sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "When My Soul Reaches Home." Mrs. Laura Thomas, Mrs. Otie Bailey and Mrs. J. D. Pauls cared for the many beautiful floral offerings sent by bereaved friends and relatives in sympathy for the family and in respect to Mr. Moravetz. Pallbearers were Hans Heidt, Otto Braker, William F. Eckley, Ed Hough, Frank Porter and M. Rosaeker. Interment was in Glenwood cemetery. BORN NEAR OGDEN Charles G., son of John and Elizabeth Moravetz was born on a farm two miles east and three-fourths mile north of Ogden, April 7, 1875 and passed away at his home in Ogden, March 10, 1937, aged 61 years, 11 months and 3 days. Although Mr. Moravetz had been poorly for several weeks his condition was not considered serious and death came unexpectedly. Mr. Moravetz attended grade and high school in Ogden. He completed his education by taking a commercial course at Highland Park college in Des Moines. When a child of five years he suffered a severe illness which left him partially disabled. Yet despite this physical handicap he led a singularly active life in the community. ACTIVE LIFE For a time he taught school. Later, he studied civil engineering and became a civil engineer. In that capacity he surveyed most of Ogden. He also served for a time as township trustee and was finally honored by the county by being elected to the board of supervisors. While he was serving as a supervisor, the present Boone County court house was built. It was largely through his foresight and integrity that the county succeeded in building a much finer court house than they had anticipated at a substantially lower figure than expected. Through the years, Mr. Moravetz had been a student of untiring effort. He read widely and thought deeply on many of the great problems of the day. He was especially well versed in the law which led to his appointment as justice of the peace 11 1/2 years ago. As a justice he won the admiration of all people for his impartial judgment and fair treatment of those who appeared in his court. GAVE HIS BEST He gave to every task the best that was in him. He considered a good name to be better than riches and a Christian character more precious than rubies. The supreme achievement of his life was in the realm of personal character. He had character! His honesty and fair-mindedness were never questioned. To his friends he was ever the affable, unpretentious brother who never seemed to properly evaluate the power of his own brilliant intellect because of his interest in and concern for others. To the last atom of his soul he was a Christian gentleman. His memory, to the people of Boone county, will be a lasting monument. THOSE SURVIVING Mr. Moravetz leaves to mourn his sudden death four brothers: Joe, of Ames; Same, of Minneapolis, Min.; and John and Ort, of Ogden; one sister, Mrs. Anna McCaskey, who had been his constant companion and helper for many years; one niece and five nephews. Besides these he leaves other more distant relatives and numerous friends and acquaintances. With his passing the community has lost a respected resident who had won for himself a warm and tender place in the hears of all who knew him.
