Read More	Boone County Democrat Boone, Iowa October 1, 1914 Mrs. Elizabeth Moravetz, a pioneer resident of this section, and wife of the late John Moravetz, Sr., died very suddenly at her home one mile east of this place Friday afternoon, Sept. 18th. Mrs. Moravetz, although seventy two years old was active and was enjoying the best of health. She had during the day pursued her usual custom about the housework, preparing the noon meal and later retired to the veranda at the front of the house, where she was found dead by her son Charles, reclining in an armed chair as though in a peaceful sleep. Other members of the house were aware of the fact that she had gone there but a short time previous. Mrs. Moravetz came to Boone county and the present Moravetz homestead with her husband and one son forty six years ago and has lived there continuously until her death. Funeral services were held from the late home and Battin Chapel Sunday afternoon at two o’clock. Services were conducted by Rev. Sauerman of the Congregational church, assisted by Rev. Rinehart, pastor of Battin Chapel U.B. church, interment at Glenwood beside her husband who died in 1902. The pallbearers were five sons and one nephew. A large concourse of people attended the funeral, as the Moravetz family is widely known throughout this section. Elizabeth Barte was born in Austria March 20, 1842, when nineteen years old she came to this country and to Linn county, Iowa, where she was married to John Moravetz in 1862, Mr. Moravetz being one of the party who came from Austria at the time the deceased did. They came to Boone county in 1868 and settled on the present Moravetz homestead. To this union eleven children were born, four of which died in infancy, a daughter Mrs. Elizabeth Crum, died at LaMoure, N.D., in 1906. Those living are Joseph of Ames, John, near the home place; Anna, Charles, Samuel and Ort at home. She also leaves one sister at Cedar Rapids and one brother in the old country. Mrs. Moravetz was a member of the Methodist church, was a good Christian woman, a kind and faithful mother, a beloved neighbor. Hers was a life of active interest, loving sacrifice and uncomplaining self-denial. The influence of her life and love will live forever and her passing has left a void that can never be filled.—Ogden Reporter
