Description	:	On the last day of February 2006, Charles Guy "Shep" Shepard, put out to sea for his final voyage. Shep was born Nov. 11, 1927, to Charles G. Shepard Sr. and Agnes Tunison Shepard. Read More	On the last day of February 2006, Charles Guy "Shep" Shepard, put out to sea for his final voyage. Shep was born Nov. 11, 1927, to Charles G. Shepard Sr. and Agnes Tunison Shepard. He was born, raised and will be laid to rest in Durango, Colo. In spite of growing up in land-locked Colorado, Shep had a love of all things nautical. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1946. He continued to enjoy his love of boating through his membership in the civilian Coast Guard where he formed many lasting friendships. Shep felt a day was well spent if he could close a day of fishing and boating under the stars with the water of Navajo Lake lapping at his boat. Of course, Shep always earned his relaxation. He was a man who thrived on his work. He will be remembered by many for his expertise and dedication to a job well done in his many years of work in the San Juan Basin oilfield. The day was not done for Shep until the work was done. He loved to make his work easier and his surroundings better by tinkering and improving with a handy hook here and a gadget there. Charles will be met at the end of his journey by his parents, Charles and Agnes Shepard; his wife, Norma Shepard; an infant son, Steven Holland Shepard; and daughter-in-law, Darla Shepard. Left to honor and remember him are his daughter, Norma (Norma Cherise Emmanuel); his grandson, Triston Patrick (son of wife, Merlie Smith), Guy Shepard (wife, Cathie) and grandson, Travis Shepard; and step-grandchildren, Jake and Megan Andrasovsky. Also left to remember him are his many friends from his life-long membership in the Elks Club, his work, the Coast Guard and his well-lived life. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 3, in Greenmount Cemetery. We wish him safe passage and calm seas. Arrangements are entrusted to Cope Memorial Chapel, 404 W. Arrington St. in Farmington, (505) 327-5142.
