Description	:	Charles H. Bemis, 90, of Columbus died Sunday, July 28, 2002, at Beverly Healthcare in Columbus. Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Rising City with the Rev. John Green officiating. Burial will be at Circle Mound Cemetery in Rising City. Visitation will be 9 a.m.-8 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service Tuesday at Roberts Funeral Home in David City. Visitation will continue from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Visitation will continue from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Mr. Bemis was born Feb. 27, 1912, near Rising City to Rolla and Edith (Davies) Bemis. He attended Union Hill Rural District 62 and graduated from Rising City High School in 1930. He married Bernice M. Smith on June 10, 1936, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He farmed near Rising City until 1979 when he retired in Columbus, living there 23 years. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Rising City. He held various church offices. He served on the Rising City High School Board of Education. He enjoyed baseball, bowling and pool and enjoyed attending Husker football games. They were recognized as Aksarben Pioneer Farm Family in 1986. Survivors include his wife of Columbus; two sons, Gary (JoAnne) Bemis of Rising City and Milton (Janet) Bemis of David City; two daughters, Sharon (Jay) Unkel of Columbus and Deanna (Jim) McClintick of Marshall, Mo.; one sister, Nadine Merrick of Denver; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Doris Whitney; and one grandson. Memorials may be directed to the care of the family.
