Bemis, 87, of 1614 Eighth Street, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Chruch with Rev. J. Graydon Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Circle Mound Cemetery, Rising City. Her body lies in state at McKown Funeral Home until noon Wednesday, then at church from 1 to 2 p.m. Mrs. Bemis died Monday morning in Methodist Hospital, Omaha, after a two-month illness. She was born Nov. 17, 1884 at Harborcreek, Pa., to Herbert and Mary Lucena Shattuck Davies. She and Rolla G. Bemis were married Dec. 25, 1907 at Harborcreek and lived on a farm at Rising City until 1945 when they retired to Columbus. He died in 1959. In Columbus Mrs. Bemis was active in the Rebekah Lodge, United Methodist Church and Women's Society of Christian Service. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ramey C. (Doris) Whitney of Chappell, Mrs. A.J. (Nadine) Merrick of Fremont; one son, Charles H. of Rising City; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
