Binning, one of Dyersville's pioneer and highly esteemed resident, passed away at the family home at an early hour last Sunday morning. Deceased was seventy-seven years of age and death came as a great relief to the patient sufferer, who has been ill for many months. Deceased was born in Cluer, [Clewer] Somersrishire, England, in November, 1837, and in the home of his birth he was educated and grew to manhood. In March, 1864, he was united in marriage to Miss Mary A. Carver. The ceremony was performed in Cheddar Baptist Church, Cleur [Clewer], after which the young couple resided on a farm near Cluer [Clewer] until 1866. when they immigrated to this country, coming directly to Dyersville, and residing on a farm near here. Mr. Binning was energetic and was successful in all his undertakings, and in 1901 came to Dyersville, which has since been his home. Three children blessed their union, one son Fred, who resides on a farm, near here, two daughters, Nellie, at home and Harriet, who later married Fred Evans and preceded her father in death about twenty years ago. Mr. Binning is well known here, always having enjoyed the acquaintance and friendship of many people. He was a devoted husband, kind father and a good neighbor, and to the grief stricken wife and children heart felt sympathy is extended in their hour of deepest sorrow. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the family home to the M.D. church, where Rev. Ryle conducted the services. Pall bearers were Messrs. Wm. Machogan, Harry Nichols, Dr. A.T. Hummel, George Nichols, Frank Whiting and Louis Gerken. Interment in Mt. Hope cemetery, this city.
