Goetzman, mention of whose death was made in our last issue, were held from the old family home north of the city, Friday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. C.E. Tingley of the Baptist church, and the remains tenderly laid to rest in the Bass Point cemetery attended by a large concourse of sorrowing friends of the family and of the deceased. Again this highly esteemed family have been called upon to part with a loved one, taken from them in the very prime of life, full of activity and vigor and seemingly blessed with everything to make life pleasant and enjoyable, but their all wise father has been best to remove him from them and leave a vacancy never to be filled again on earth. Charles Henry Goetzman was born September 11, 1861, in Boone County, Ia., and died at Eldorado Spring, Missouri, October 17, 1905, at the age of 44 years one month and 6 days. He was of a quiet and loving disposition, respected and loved by all who knew him. He grew to manhood on the farm with his parents and in 1884 went to Nebraska to make his home. He resided there until 1901 when he went to Texas for a while then returned to Nebraska and lived there until 1903, when he moved to Eldorado Springs, where he resided at the time of his death. Since leaving home the first time he has made several visits home to see his parents and friends, always enjoying those visits very much. In the fall of 1903 while traveling in Missouri, he was taken ill with typhoid fever and ad a long and severe siege from which he never fully recovered. Last summer thinking a change would prove beneficial e went to Hot Springs, Arkansas, for a while, returning later apparently alright. Tuesday morning, October 10th, while walking from his home to the post office he was seized with a stroke of paralysis. Wednesday the second stroke and on Thursday morning as he was leaving the hotel he received the third stroke, which left him unconscious and helpless. He lingered in this condition until Tuesday morning October 17th at 1:00 o'clock when death relieved him. The message came to his family Thursday, October 12th and his brother, Lafe, went to his bedside at once, and remained with him until the end came. At times he seemed to realize his brother's presence but could not talk to him. This ended a young and vigorous life. The last time he visited and talked with his mother he stated that he was ready and willing to die, evidently foreseeing that his time in this world was not long. He leaves a mother, four sisters and three brothers to mourn his untimely death, all of whom were present at the funeral except one brother, W.J., and one sister, Mrs. Hattie McCracken, who live at Long Beach, Cal.
