Charles Haeussler, of Monticello, Killed by Overturning of the Lexxxxx Automobile. Near the Anamosa fair ground, last Tuesday evening, an automobile, driven by Will Lexxxxx, of Monticello, was overturned, while traveling at a high rate of speed and Charles Haeussler, of Monticello, received injuries that caused his death at ten o'clock the next day. Will Lexxxxx and Bates Florine, the other occupants of the car, were shaken up and bruised, but not seriously, injured. The report is that the machine was going at a high rate of speed when it met a team and turned aside in order that it might pass. The road at that point was comparatively level. The driver, Mr. Lexxxxx, in throwing from high to low speed gear, met with the trouble that turned the oar completely over. In some unaccountable manner one of the front wheels appeared to lock. Lexxxxx and Florine were thrown high into the air. Poor Haeussler was caught under one of the wheels and there sustained internal injuries to the abdomen that caused great agony. The physicians very quickly observed his serious condition and gave instructions for the summoning of his wife and children. He was given attention at the sanitarium, where he died about ten o'clock the day following the accident. The automobile was not badly broken and was put in repair, after a few hours work. Charles Haeussler was the son of Mrs. Louis Haeussler. He leaves a wife and six children. He has been an industrious man, and for many years was a section foreman in the employ of the C. M. & St. P. By. Co. Mr. Haeussler was born in New York, March 18, 1868, and was therefore of the age of 42 years, 7 months, 28 days, he was brought to Monticello by his parents at the age of four years, and thereafter made this place his home. He was married December 25, 1894, to Miss Mary Duffy, who survives him. He is also survived by six children, the youngest four months of age and the eldest seventeen years. The children are Peter, Carl, Victor, Frieda, Herman and Robert. The funeral services will be conducted at the home, tomorrow afternoon by Rev. M. A. Breed.
