Mr. Owen had enjoyed pretty good health up to New Year’s day, when he was taken seriously ill and never fully recovered. The cause of his death was attributed to hardening of the arteries. On Sunday prior to his death, Mr. Owen sank in to a semi-unconscious state and gradually grew weaker until the end came at the time above stated Tuesday morning. Charles H. Owen was born in Wisconsin and when a boy moved to Iowa. Early in the Civil war he enlisted in an Iowa regiment and served through the entire war. In 1883 he came to Bismarck, where he has lived the greater part of the time since. Deceased is survived by a wife and four children, besides several brothers and a sister. The children are, Mrs. F. O. Brewster, Miss Hazel, Miss Bess, Master Charles, Jr., and Master Harold, all of this city. Deceased was a courageous man, but he seemed to have a presentiment that his was to be his last illness, and some time before his death he said, “I have made a good fight, but in this I am going to lose.” He was of a very quiet and unassuming nature, never belonged to any secret society, and made but few acquaintances. His life was spent in the grain business. The funeral will be held at the residence, 510 Seventh street, on Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock, when services will be conducted by Rev.
