Description	:	C. H. West passed away at the hospital at Hastings, Saturday, January 23rd, after a long period of ill health. Charles Henry West was born April 4, 1851, in Groveland, Tazewell County, Illinois, and died in Hastings, Nebraska, January 23, 1926, being 75 years, 9 months and 19 days of age. In the spring of 1876 he came to Boone Co., and took up a homestead. He was united in marriage to Nora Mary Whiting in 1880. Charles Henry West was born April 4, 1851, in Groveland, Tazewell County, Illinois, and died in Hastings, Nebraska, January 23, 1926, being 75 years, 9 months and 19 days of age. In the spring of 1876 he came to Boone Co., and took up a homestead. He was united in marriage to Nora Mary Whiting in 1880. To this union were born 12 children, George, Jasper, Jessie, Ina, Mabel, Bert, Vivian, Vera, Fern, Gordon, and two others, Hazel and Mildred, who died in infancy. He was converted and united with the Baptist Church of Albion, being baptized, March 29, 1906, and lived a consistent faithful Christian life until his death. He was an affectionate and kindhearted husband and father, and was devoted to his home and family. He lived an honorable and upright life and was held in high esteem by all who knew him. In 1891 he moved to Oregon where he lived five years and then came back to Boone County, where he resided until a few weeks previous to his death. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife, ten children, George, of Lewellen; Jasper, of Tacoma, Wash.; Jessie Brown, of Lander, Wyo.; Ina Blacksmith, Omaha; Mabel Mott, Norfolk; Bert, Tacoma, Wash.; Vivian Mott, Walbach; Vera Cain, Fremont; and Fern Atwater and Gordon West of Albion and a host of relatives and friends. Among the out of town relatives here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. George West, Mrs. Ina Blacksmith, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Mott, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Mott, Mrs. Vera Cain, Leonard Whiting, of Columbus, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Whiting, St. Edward, and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Potorff, Hastings. Funeral service were held at the Baptist church Monday afternoon, January 25th, conducted by the pastor, Rev. G. B. Nance, after which interment was made in Rose Hill cemetery.
