West George Amos West first child of Nora and Henry West was born November 10, 1882, near Albion, Nebraska, and passed away at his home March 30, 1946, at the age of 63 years, 4 months, 20 days. He received his schooling at Albion, Nebr. During this time he was baptised and joined the First Baptist church in Albion. It was from his father he learned the mason trade and to it he devoted a good share of his time until his passing. In 1905 he was married to Pearl Caroline Brown. To this union was born two daughters, Hazel, who departed this life when a young woman, and Mrs. Pearl Rook of Denver. His wife passed away in 1910. In 1912 [editor: May 21 at Lewellen, Nebraska] he was united in marriage to Ethel Anna Brunt. To this union three sons and three daughters were born; George Jr., Henry Arnold, Opal Orr, Ruth Reeves, all of Lewellen and Anna May Bennett of California. He also leaves to mourn his passing his mother in California; three brothers, Jerry West of Scottsbluff, Bert of California and Gordon of Ogallala; six sisters, Jessie Brown, Lander, Wyoming, Ina Blacksmith, Omaha, Nebr., Mable Mott, Norfolk, Vivian Mott, New Mexico, Vera Stump of California and Fern Atwater of Idaho; eleven grand children and a host of other relatives and friends. In 1907 he and his father-in-law Steve Brown, drove in a covered wagon to Garden county, Nebraska, where he homesteaded under the Kinkaid Act, where he was residing at the time of his death. George, as he was known throughout the Platte valley, will be missed for his ever willingness, good heartedness, and true friendship. Funeral services were held at the Lewellen Methodist church Wednesday and burial was in Ash Hollow cemetery.
