They were the parents of Raymond, Howard and Ruth (Glen Wills). He married 2nd Olive May Unger Will on November 11, 1936. Cherokee Daily Times - Friday , March 4th, 1938 - Chas. J. Sawvell, Mt. Olive, youngest son of Jacob and Sarah Sawvel, was born in McGregor, la. February 7, 1876. He was of a family of eleven children, six girls and five boys. He passed from this life February 27, 1938 at the age of 62 years and 20 days. October 2, 1901 he was united in marriage to Miss Flora M. Will of Quimby, Iowa. After their marriage they made their home in Savannah, IL. for ten years where Mr. Sawvell was a fireman on the railroad. Their three children, Raymond, Howard and Ruth, were born here. They returned to the Mt. Olive community in 1911 and operated the Mt. Olive store for three years then they moved on their farm south of Mt. Olive where they lived until the death of Mrs. Sawvell August 7, 1934. Mr. Sawvell continued to live on this farm after her death and November 11, 1936 he was united in marriage with Mrs. Olive Will. Their short married life proved to be a very happy one. Mr. Sawvell was devoted to his home and family. He took great pride in keeping up his home and surroundings and friends and neighbors always found a kindly welcome in the Sawvell home. Mr. Sawvell was a good moral man, honest in his dealings with his fellowmen. His sudden death was a great blow to the community where he has lived so long and especially to Mrs. Sawvell who only just recently buried her only son. This sudden death reminds us that we know neither the day nor the hour when the Son of Man cometh, may the God of all grace teach us to remember our days that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Olive Sawvell, of Cherokee; two sons, Raymond of Sioux City, Ia., Howard of Huron, S.D; a daughter, Mrs. Glen Leeds, of Aurelia, la.; one grandchild and eight step-grandchildren.; one brother, Frank Sawvell, of Marquette, la., and other relatives and many friends. Tuesday afternoon, March 1 at one o'clock the relatives and a large group of friends gathered at the Kroll funeral home in Aurelia where a brief service was held. The funeral service followed at the Good Hope M.E. church being conducted by Rev. Glenn L. McKinney, former pastor at Mt. Olive but now of Red Oak, Iowa. He was assisted by Rev Preul of Aurelia. Interment was made in the Good Hope cemetery. Songs used at the church service were "Sometime We Will Understand," "Yes There is one," "Does Jesus Care," sung by a quartet from Aurelia. Pallbearers were B.H. Dubes, Floyd Allen, Lloyd Ohlson, Earl Crippen, Roy Glidewell, Carl Magnuston. The floral offerings were many and beautiful. Those attending the funeral from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Sawvell of Sioux City, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Sawvell of Huron, S.D., Mr. and Mrs. Freeman Will and son Byrle of Hartford, S.D., Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sawvell of Marquette, la., Paul and Max Gross, of Sioux Fall, S.D. jr. and Mr and Mrs. Irvin Sawvell of Camby, Minn, Mr. and Mrs. Amos Sawvell, Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Irvin of Iroquois, S.D., Mr. and Mrs. Amos Hahn of near Royal, la., Mrs. Cliff Hahn of Webster City, Edd Hahn and Mrs. Arthur Bagenstoft of HoIstein, Mr and Mrs. Paul Milter of Paullina, Iowa.
