Mr. Sikir was born September 11, 1887, and passed away February 28, 1966, at Mercy hospital, Cedar Rapids. He had been ill for the last 12 years. He was married October 10, 1910, to Julia Cherveny at Toledo, who survives along with three children: Mrs. George Preston, Belle Plaine; Mrs. Emery Smith, Cedar Rapids and Mr. Charles Sikir, Jr., Robins; six grandchildren: Ronald Preston, Kansas City, Missouri; Monte Preston, Los Angeles, California; David, Eric and Bruce Smith, Cedar Rapids, and Kermit Sikir, Robins; two great grandchildren; one half-sister, Mrs. Agnes Formanek, and one brother, Joe Sikir, Tama. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, John, Emil and Frank and one sister, Mary Peterzalek. Mr. Sikir had been a farmer during his lifetime and farmed for 50 years in Tama County. Casket bearers were Glenn Blaha, Charles Peterzalek, William Bobinet, Louis Adams, Edward Plehal, Charles Upah. Marie Christman was the organist and Dick Gatrelle sang. Burial was at the National Cemetery, Vining.
