Deceased are two brothers, Holland and Berlin. He retired from the St. Marys Foundry Co., where he was a loyal production employee for many years. In addition to their own children, Charles and Margaret had the pleasure of helping raise two of their grandchildren, Chuck Slone and Jamie Slone-Gottschalk. He was a humble, strong man devoted to his family and enjoying the simpler pleasures that life had to offer. His family was his top priority, and when not at the foundry, he devoted all his free time to them. His warm smile and keen sense of humor touched the lives of those who knew him. Following the death of his beloved wife, he focused his attention and love on all his grandchildren, developing a special bond between himself and his great-grandson and "little buddy," Austin Gottschalk. A nice, sunny day would find him sitting on his front porch, greeting people from the neighborhood as they passed by his home. Funeral services will be held at Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys, with the Rev. Gary Mosley, officiating.
