Description	:	Charles J. Kauffman, 74, an esteemed and respected Paradise Valley rancher and for 14 years, president of the Bozeman Production Credit Association, died Wednesday morning at the Bozeman Deaconess hospital after a lengthy illness. Services will be held Saturday mo9rning at 10 at the Franzen chapel with the Rev. Edwin Dover, Pine Creek Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Shorthill cemetery. Charley Kauffman was a friend to young and old--he always had a "hello" and a smile and a wage of the hand for passersby. He spend countless hours in dedicated service to help his fellow ranchers who were served by the Bozeman PCA and was known throughout Park, Gallatin, Broadwater, Madison and other counties. He was born Sept. 19, 1981 in Peterson, Iowa. The family moved to the present Kauffman ranch in 1900 when he was a boy of 9 years, and he has resided there continuously. On Jan 28, 1914, he married Olive Lyons there. He was member of the woodmen of the World and the Park County Pioneers Society. Surviving are his wife, Olive; a sister, Mrs. Paul Armstrong of Livingston; a granddaughter, Charlett Sworder at the ranch; several nephews, nieces and cousins.
