Description	:	Charles Jarvis Fender, Sr., youngest child of a family of eleven children born to Solomon and Elizabeth Fender. He came to life in Lee County, Illinois, May 16, 1857 and departed this life at his home in Seward, May 2, 1933, being 75 years, 11 month and 16 days of age. In 1874 he went to Mills county, Iowa, with his widowed mother and several brothers and sisters. On October 28, 1879, he was united in marriage to Jennie Hillyer at Sidney, Iowa. In 1874 he went to Mills county, Iowa, with his widowed mother and several brothers and sisters. On October 28, 1879, he was united in marriage to Jennie Hillyer at Sidney, Iowa. To this union three children were born. One son Charlie Jarvis and two daughters, Minnie Gertrude and Edith Izelle. In March 1884 he came with his family to D precinct, Seward county, Nebraska, to his farm where he lived until December 19, 1912, when he moved to Seward where he has since resided. He is survived by his wife Jennie, his son having passed away September 13, 1932. Two daughters, Mrs. Minnie G. Radford of Ulysses, Nebr., and Mrs. Harry C. Phillips of Mitchell, Nebr. One daughter-in-law, Mrs. Bertha Fender of Seward, one son-in-law, Harry C. Phillips of Mitchell, Nebr., eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Three sisters, Mrs. Frances King of Centralia, Kansas, Mrs. Emma Cahill of Paxton, Nebr., and Mrs. Jane Jones of Greekley, Colo. One brother-in-law, Frank Cahill of Paxton, Nebraska. Mr. Fender was a kind and loving husband and father, and will be greatly missed by the many friends and neighbors in the vicinities where he has lived for so many years. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home with Rev. A. Ludwick of Lincoln officiating. Interment was in the Seward cemetery. Relatives from a distance who came to attend the funeral of C. J. Fender were Mr. and Mrs. Harry C. Phillips and two daughters Mip Harriett and Mrs. P. O. Weston of Mitchell, Nebr., Mrs. Frank Cahill and son of Paxton, Nebr., and Martin King of Centralia, Kansas. Blue Valley Blade, Seward, NE, Thurs, May 11, 1933
