Born in Sumter County, he was a son of the late Herbert and Henrietta Blanch Benenhaley Ray Jr.. Mr. Ray was a member of Springbank Baptist Church. He retired from the U.S. Civil Service and was a retired small business owner. Ray of Sumter. He was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Ray. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Springbank Baptist Church, 5725 Fish Road, Dalzell, with the Rev. Steve Miller and Dr. Robert Alderman officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of Ryan and Christin Dutcher, 3265 Raffield Court, Dalzell. Memorials may be made to Springbank Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 159, Dalzell, SC 29040. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
