Charles Louis Schmich, son of Michael and Louise Schmich Carroll County pioneers, was born Jan 19, 1869 at Freeport, IL. He had lived in Carroll county 69 years. Until his retirement, when he moved into Carroll, he had resided o a farm 3 and 1/2 miles north of the city. His marriage to Thresia Berger took place Jan 20, 1895 at SS Peter and Paul's church. Surviving with his wife are two daughters: Mrs. Ben Seaman (Mary ) Everett, Wash., Mrs. Lowell Young (Lillian), Bremerton, Wash., one granddaughter, Jeanne Marie Young of Bremerton; and two brothers, William J. Schmich, Carroll, and Ed Schmich, Spirit Lake. Three children died in infancy. Mr Schmich was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, George, who died in 1908 and Frank in 1930 and one sister, Mrs Albert Copp (Mayme) in March 1937. Mr Schmich's death resulted from complications that developed after suffering a fractured hip in a fall 3 weeks ago. Mr and Mrs Seaman and Mr and Mrs Young are expected to arrive here this evening.
