Read More	Madison Courier Madison, Indiana July 26, 2008 Charles M. Knox Charles M. "Charlie" Knox, 87, of Vevay, died Thursday, July 24, 2008, at King's Daughters' Hospital. He was born Sept. 24, 1920, in Carroll County, Ky., the son of Melvin and Ollie B. Southerland Knox. His family moved to a farm in Craig Township in Switzerland County when he was 3. He was an Army veteran of World War II. After the war, he and his wife farmed together for 51 years. He was a supervisor for the state highway department from 1962 to 1970, supervising State Road 56 between Madison and Vevay. He was appointed to the Switzerland County council and served two terms. He was the Democratic precinct committeeman in Precinct 1 until he died. He was a member of Spring Branch Baptist Church, Vevay American Legion Post 185, Vevay VFW Post 5396 and Madison Moose Lodge. He loved farming and enjoyed raising cattle, naming each one. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and playing softball. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Willie Knox, who died Jan. 26, 1996, and Albert Knox, who died Oct. 11, 2006; and two sisters, A. Dorothy Hambrick, who died April 8, 2006, and Clara Shreves, who died in February 2007. The funeral was at Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay. Burial was in Vevay Cemetery.
