PLATT, 69, Found Dead in Office Well Known Former Papillion Resident Found Dead in Office Charles M. PLATT, 69, of Omaha but formerly a long time resident of Papillion and vicinity, was found dead Saturday morning in the Union State Bank building in Omaha where he served as night watchman. He had performed a part of his usual routine duties and apparently stricken, laid down on a davenport to rest where he was found dead by the day man who came to relieve him. He had been dead several hours. A heart attack was diagnosed as the cause of his death. He had not been ill and his death came as a terrible shock to his wife and other relatives. Charles M. PLATT was born March 8, 1871, at Belle Plaine, Iowa and when quite young came with his parents to Papillion, locating on the PLATT farm just south of the Fred Trumble place southwest of Papillion where he grew to manhood. He was united in marriage with Miss Susan DAUP at Papillion on October 6, 1897, the late Rev. W. H. Underwood performing the ceremony. The happy couple continued to reside in this vicinity up until a few years ago when they moved to Omaha where he had since been employed. Two children, a daughter, Mrs. Mary EASTMAN of Los Angeles, and a son, Harry H. PLATT of Norfolk, were born to this union, both of whom with his wife survive. He is also survived by a granddaughter, JoAnn PLATT of Norfolk and by one sister, Mrs. Kate Gehringer of Des Moines, as well as by many other relatives and a wide circle of old friends and acquaintances. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the W. J. Claire Funeral home in Papillion with Rev. E. C. Sitts of Bellevue, formerly pastor of the Presbyterian church in Papillion, officiating. "Peace, Perfect Peace" was sung by James T. Begley of Lincoln, a grand nephew, accompanied by Miss Irene Trumble. The services were very largely attended. Burial was in Cedar Dale cemetery. Pallbearers were Messrs. Ira Beadle, Wm. Brown, Roy Kiger, L. E. Bossard, Gates Lilley and H. D. Benson. Mrs. PLATT and her sisters and brothers have been sorely afflicted during the past two weeks, first their brother, Rev. Wm. DAUP having died in Rochester, Minn., then Mrs. PLATT's daughter's husband died at Los Angeles, he being buried the same day that Mr. PLATT passed away. Surely, troubles never come singly, and to the bereaved families the most sincere sympathy is extended. Charlie PLATT will be well and long remembered in Papillion. Always of a jolly and cheerful disposition, he was active in social and church affairs, was a member of the Papillion band for years and was also a member of the Presbyterian church choir. He loved to tell a story and was at his best when with a circle of friends experiences and stories were recounted.
