Description	:	Charles P. King, 86, of South Dartmouth passed away Monday, June 29, 2015 at the Tippett Home in Needham, after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. He was the husband of the late Eleanor M. (Smith) King, with whom he shared 63 years of marriage. Born in New Bedford, a son of the late William T. and Jeanette (Gifford) King, he was a lifelong Dartmouth resident. King Lumber Company. He served... Read More	Charles P. King, 86, of South Dartmouth passed away Monday, June 29, 2015 at the Tippett Home in Needham, after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. He was the husband of the late Eleanor M. (Smith) King, with whom he shared 63 years of marriage. Born in New Bedford, a son of the late William T. and Jeanette (Gifford) King, he was a lifelong Dartmouth resident. Mr. King graduated from Bryant College with a degree in business administration that he put to use in the early 1950s, setting up bookkeeping systems for the family business, William T. King Lumber Company. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War, working as a radio operator in Germany. Charles was a skilled builder and wood worker and was very proud of his home workshop. He and his brothers were all engaged in the family business, first with their father and later with their mother. After their mother's death in 1965, Charles and his brothers continued to grow the business. William T. King Lumber Company closed in 2009 after over 60 years in business. Mr. King had a lifelong fascination with the stock market and investing. He was a longtime member of two local investment clubs, Mutual Investment Associates of New Bedford and New Bedford Associates Affiliates. He loved to travel to Vermont with his wife, Eleanor. He is survived by two sons, David C. King of Auburn and Paul S. King and his wife Patricia W. King of Needham; two grandsons, many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral service Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at 11 AM in the WARING-SULLIVAN Home of Memorial Tribute at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Road, Dartmouth. Burial will follow in South Dartmouth Cemetery. Visitation, Tuesday 10-11 AM prior to the service. Memorial contributions in his honor may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 480 Pleasant Street Watertown, Massachusetts 02472. Arrangesments by Waring-Sullivan
