Description	:	Charles Riley Ranes, son of John and Marie Ranes, was born Feb. 9, 1883 (sic), in Putnam county, Mo. He passed away at the St. Joseph hospital in Centerville, Ia., Feb. 5, 1943. He was united in marriage, Nov. 30, 1905, to Pearl May Jordan and to this union ten children were born, one dying in infancy. Read More	Charles Riley Ranes, son of John and Marie Ranes, was born Feb. 9, 1883 (sic), in Putnam county, Mo. He passed away at the St. Joseph hospital in Centerville, Ia., Feb. 5, 1943. He was united in marriage, Nov. 30, 1905, to Pearl May Jordan and to this union ten children were born, one dying in infancy. The living are Mrs. Clarence Dickmann, Mrs. Dan Welch, Mrs. Samuel St. John and Richard Ranes, all of Marshall, Mo., Mrs. Jesse Stiner and Harold Ranes of Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. Archie Knutter of Elmira, Mo., Loyd Ranes of Excelsior Springs, Mo., and Howard Ranes, a marine, whereabouts unknown. He is survived, besides his children, by his parents, four brothers and four sisters, Mrs. Anna Yates (?) of Des Moines, Mrs. Kalter Mitchell, Mrs. Robert Henderson and Mrs. Clyde McGee, all of Centerville; Arthur Ranes of Moulton, Oscar Ranes, William T. Ranes and Albert Ranes, all of Centerville, also eight grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many friends. In addition to his child he was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Funeral services were held at the Miller Funeral home in Centerville Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Feb. 7, conducted by the Rev. Luther W. Childs. ********* *Note: Charles registered for WW11 at age 60, and died of cancer of the scrotum the following year, at age 61. His physical features recorded on the registration card; 5'5", 180#, light complexion, blue eyes, grey hair, missing second and third finger of right hand below the second joint, and tip of little finger.
