Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 14 at the First Christian Church with the Rev. Wm. Kanne officiating and Mrs. Neal Shirbroun serving as organist. Burial was in the Coon Rapids Cemetery with Maurice Campbell, Milo Roberts, V.E. Hazelhoff, Lawrence Boyce, Hank Kleemeier and Matt Barron as casketbearers.... Preceding him in death was his wife Vivian in 1977. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Frank Halac. Mesa, Az., and Betty Harris of Brookfield, Mo. Mr. Rippey moved to Mesa with his wife 24 years ago where he was very active and ran the gate at the ball park. Each year he attended the Coon Rapids picnic in February. There are 14 families from Coon Rapids living in the city. The annual event, which he started in 1956, was given this year in his honor. Mr. Rippey also at one time held a Rippey-Miller HyLine Chick franchise which developed from the late Henry Wallace's agricultural experimentations.
