Born on June 28, 1930, in Lake City, IA, she was the youngest daughter of Charles and Vivien Rippey. Read More	Coon Rapids Enterprise November 8, 2018 Eleanor Rippey McCarty, 88, died peacefully at her home in Mesa, AZ, on October 22nd of natural causes. Born on June 28, 1930, in Lake City, IA, she was the youngest daughter of Charles and Vivien Rippey. Eleanor, or ''Elle", as her friends called her, grew up, married, and began a family in Coon Rapids in the 1940s, and moved to Mesa, AZ in August of 1972. She graduated from Coon Rapids High School in 1947, where she had the distinction of being on the team that won the 1946 Iowa Girl's Basketball Championship. In 1948, Elle married Dale McCarty. In this union, three daughters were born. Su Melissa, Sarah Jo, and Amy Ann. While in Coon Rapids, Elle worked in the Iowa Savings Bank for many years. She played golf, bowled, and was an avid bridge player who earned Life Master status. She was well know for making the best homemade bread around. She loved to cook, bake, decorate cakes, and hostess countless parties. For over 60 years she was an active member of the PEO Sisterhood, In 1972 she moved to Mesa, AZ, to be closer to her parents. She was a bank officer for Valley National Bank of Arizona, and later owned a catering business until she retired. Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were the light of her life. Elle is survived by her daughters, Su Hand of Las Vegas, NV; Sarah Pitotti of Dumfries, VA; and Amy Cruver of Eatonville, WA; sons-in-law, Cliff Hand, Colonel Stephen J. Pitotti, (USAF, ret.), and Dave Cruver; sister Betty’ Harris of Scottsdale, AZ; sister-in-law Judy McCarty of Panora, IA; niece Jean Fielder of Scottsdale, AZ; nephew Dick Harris of Phoenix, AZ; and nephew Steve Harris of Rusk, TX. Her grandchildren are Jonathan King and Michelle of Denton, TX; Melissa Pitotti and Dr. Alex Bahr of Geneva, Switzerland; Major Christopher Pitotti and Rebecca of Las Vegas, NV; Stephanie Pitotti Williams and Major Bert Williams of Alexandria, VA; Keaton and Corbett Cruver of Eatonville, WA; and seven great-grandchildren: Oliver, Andrew, HT, Max, Adeline, Gideon, and Alethea.
