Description	:	Charles Robert Larison, the son of Jesse and Sadie (Winder) Larison, was born on June 10, 1919, at Bedford, Iowa. He was educated at Nelson and graduated from Nelson High School with the Class of 1939. He served his country during World War II in the United States Army, receiving a Purple Heart and a Bronze Battle Star. He was a member of the Nelson Community United Church... Read More	Charles Robert Larison, the son of Jesse and Sadie (Winder) Larison, was born on June 10, 1919, at Bedford, Iowa. He was educated at Nelson and graduated from Nelson High School with the Class of 1939. He served his country during World War II in the United States Army, receiving a Purple Heart and a Bronze Battle Star. After being honorably discharged from the United States Army he married LaVon Ione Morehead on November 27, 1946, in Concordia, Kansas. Chuck was a friend to all and kept very busy. He was a member of the Nelson Community United Church of Christ, the Nelson V.F.W., the Nelson Fire Department, and he had worked at Dillman Brothers as a meat cutter from 1945-1946. He worked as an electrician with the Westgate Electric of Nelson from 1946-1947. He was a salesperson for Cowger Wholesale Foods, a part - time postal clerk in Nelson and then worked into a fulltime (sic) postal clerk. He owned and operated the Army and Navy Store in Nelson and later after retirement tore down buildings and barns, and re-sold the lumber. He was very interested in the youth the sports and followed all sporting events faithfully. Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife LaVon on October 19, 1988; one sister Amber Bergman; and one brother Donald C. Larison. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Phil (Maralee) Barto of Spokane, Washington, Mrs. Coke (Cindy) Troudt of Lawrence, Nebraska, Mrs. Harold (Patti) Kramp of Superior, and Mrs. Alan (Melanie) Wilton of Nelson; eight grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Chuck passed away on October 12, 1991, near Colby, Kansas, as a result of fatal injuries received in an automobile accident, at the age of 72 years, 4 months and 2 days. Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 16, 1991, at 10:30 a.m. from the Nelson Community United Church of Christ in Nelson with Rev. Royce Buchtel officiating. Music was provided by soloist Debi Garrison singing "How Great Thou Art" "In The Garden" and "One Day At A Time" with Myrtle Worley as organist and accompanist. Casketbearers were Darren Myers, Clay Myers, Gordon Roethemeyer, Paul Shimek, Wayne Gumaer and Paul Statz. Honorary pallbearers were Earl Lanham, Ivan Troudt, Henry Joy and Bill Menke. Burial was in the Nelson Cemetery near Nelson, Nebraska. Klawitter-Price Funeral Home of Nelson, Nebraska, was in charge of the arrangements.
