McKenzie, resident of this county for 56 years, died Thursday evening of last week in a Great Falls hospital, aged 76 years, 4 months, and 10 days. He had. been living with his son-in-law and daughter Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Jaobson, being in the hospital but a short time. The body was brought here for burial in the family plot in Mountain View. Funeral services were held from the Evangelical church Monday afternoon, Rev. H. S. Tool officiating. Lowry's had charge. Music was by Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ryan, Mrs. Martin Stokke, Mrs. Oscar McLane, L. A. Westervelt with Mrs. Mervin Sell at the organ. Pallbearers were A. A. Lamp, Andrew G. Braughton, John Brekke, John W. Davis, Guy C. Officer, Charles W. Voges. Deceased was born Dec. 24, 1867, at Spring Valley, Minn. He came to this county in 1888 with his cousin, Frank McComb, working for the Davis family. Soon he homesteaded the ranch five miles from Big Timber on the south side of the Boulder which he occupied until 1937 when failing health forced him to discontinue its operation and he moved into Big Timber. The ranch was sold recently to Clarence Rostad. In 1906 Mr. McKenzie married Lucy Weaver who died in 1917. Four children were born to them: William, now residing in Pendleton, Ore: Francis, in service in Italy; Louise, now Mrs. Virgil Haffner, and May, Mrs. Mike Rangitsch, both of Hardin. A second marriage was to Carrie Bakeman in 1919. Twins, Robert of this city and Helen, Mrs. Jacobson of Great Falls, were born to them. Mrs. McKenzie died in September 1932. All the children except Francis, with their husbands and wives and families, were here for the funeral. There are six grandsons and five granddaughters. Deceased was one of the organizers of the Evangelical church, services being held first in the schoolhouse in his district, and instrumental in providing the church edifice and the parsonage for that organization.
