Read More	From the Downs News & Downs Times, 13 Sep 1928: ANOTHER PIONEER GONE Another pioneer has answered the call of the Master and gone to join his comrads beyond the silvery mists that hang in the West. Charles A. Sellers was born in Oak Hill, Center county, Penn., on November 3, 1851, and died at his home in Downs, Kans., on September 8, 1928, at the age of 76 years, 10 months and five days. In the early 70's he, with John Goheen, of Downs, and other friends, came West from Pennsylvania, settling in the vicinity of Downs. Later Mr. Sellers and some of the others returned to their homes in Pennsylvania, but about three years later they came back West to make their homes. On November 8, 1883, at Beloit, Kans., Mr. Sellers was united in marriage to Anna Bartsch, of Downs. To this union eight children were born, five girls and three boys: William C., of Downs; Edith Vogel, of Kansas City, Kans; Hazel Miller, of Kansas City, Mo; Edna Lewis, of St. Joseph, Mo; Irvin, of Concordia; Gertrude and Oletha at home, and Freddie, who died at the age of 18 months. Besides the family, he leaves ten grandchildren, a sister in Pennsylvania, his brothers and sisters having preceeded him to the Great Beyond. At an early age he united with the Christian church of Downs, later transferring his membership to the Methodist church, where he attended Sunday school and church regularly until the last few years when his health failed and he remained at home most of the time. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church on Monday, Septermber 10, at 2:30, the services being in charge of Rev. Grant Mann, and interment was made in the Rose Valley cemetery.
