He came to Audubon County [Greeley section 6] with his parents in 1883. He was a graduate of Audubon High School and taught school in the county for some years. He was a graduate of Iowa State College at Ames where he received the degree of Bachelor of Science in 1903. He received Bachelor of Law degree the following year from Drake University in Des Moines. He practiced law here until 1905 when he became Clerk of the District Court. In 1909 he returned to his law practice in which profession he served as a member of the Executive committee of the Iowa Bar Association. He specialized in litigation cases. He was married to the former Lillian [Violet] Dyer of Exira in 1925 [24 December] at Des Moines, Iowa. He was a member of the Methodist Church and Masonic Lodge of Audubon. He was very civic minded ad worked very hard toward the accomplishing of the new courthouse. On the day of voting, relatives received a call from him to be sure and vote and vote right or, the implication being "or else." He was very interested in and worked for many civic projects that have since become a reality. Charles passed away May 16, 1946. Lillian passed away in 1957.
