Description	:	Charles Townsend Wright was born in Saybrook, Conn., September 30, 1796. In 1815 he was in New London, CT. Attached is a transcription of a document (attached) certifying that he is an American citizen. Perhaps the British were conscripting? He married Rebecca Saltonstall August 12, 1819, in Fayetteville, N.C. by the Rev R. N. Tally. In 1823 he received a ministerial license in Antioch, Marion District, SC (attached). Of his father, GFS Wright wrote in The Southern Dental Journal, Volume 10, pp 280-281 (free here: books.google.com/books?id=Dk4VAAAAYAAJ) 1834: "At the age of two and a half years, Marion was no longer my home, my father having removed his family to Norwich, Conn., the home of his childhood." (Perhaps this was for seminary, or perhaps a family member was ill.) 1836: "Two years later we returned to South Carolina, and Georgetown became our home." (Perhaps he graduated, or the family member died or recovered.) 1847: "...about the age of about fifteen, my father obtained a situation for me with Optimus E Hughes, then a grocer at 43 East Bay Street, Charleston, SC." 1860: (GFS was learning dental work from an uncle in Alabama): "The eventful times of 1860 drawing near, my father wrote me 'Come home, there's going to be a fuss.'" (GFS arrived home the day the Ordinance of Succession was signed, and entered Company A the next day.) Charles and Rebecca's families were from CT, and went back and forth often. The War Between the States must have been rough on them. Charles' great-granddaughter Marguerite Croft Thieker inherited the Croft house, including Bibles, letters and documents, and transcribed them. See attached.
