Hopkins officiated with burial in the Greenwood Cemetery in Creighton. Pallbearers were Scott Adams, Merlin Strope, James Ickler, Francis Montgomery, Donald Kinnison and Michael Bauer. Charles V. Kotrous, the son of John and Anna Hracky Kotrous, was born February 5, 1901 at Plainview. He died Thursday, Feb. 27 at the Lundberg Memorial Hospital in Creighton at the age of 85 years and 22 days following a lingering illness. At an early age, he moved with his parents to a farm northwest of Verdigre and attended rural school in the area. Later, he moved with his parents to a farm southwest of Verdigre and attended rural school there. On December 18, 1935 he married Gladys Fiscus at Center. They made their home on a farm southwest of Verdigre. To this union three children were born, Marilyn, Gordon and Norma. In January of 1951 they moved to a farm they purchased near Venus, where they lived until June of 1980, when they moved to Creighton. Survivors include his wife, Gladys; one son, Gordon of Creighton; two daughters, Mrs. Raymond (Marilyn) Lampman of Axtell and Mrs. Earl (Norma) Strong of O'Neill; four sisters, Mrs. Emma Walter of Crofton, Mrs. Christine Sedivy of Creighton, Mrs. Lydia Pilar and Mrs. Irene Effle, both of Verdigre; two brothers, Vaclav Sr. of Verdigre and Edward of Wisner.
