Abel, in Emerson, on August 27, 1915. He had been ill for six months from dropsical trouble. When a child of three years his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. In 1849, they moved to the farm known as the Abel homestead, two and one-half miles west of Emerson.. In 1873, he married Lenetta Armstrong of this place. To this union four children were born, two died in infancy and The surviving children are Mrs. Millie McLean of Pauline, Oregon, and Otto Abel, of near Hastings. From 1882 to 1889, Mr. Abel and family resided near Miller, Nebraska. He lived on the Abel homestead until 1906, when he moved to a farm which he had purchased south of Glenwood; his four brothers, D. C. Abel of this place, W. R. Abel of Winfield, Kansas, T. J. Abel of Decatur, 111., and J. L. Abel of Miller, Nebr. From 1882 to 1889, Mr. Abel and family resided near Miller, Nebraska. He lived on the Abel homestead until 1906, when he moved to a farm which he had purchased south of Glenwood and lived there until three months ago when, he came to Emerson and stayed with his brother Carl until his death. He was in 1903 united in marriage to Mrs. Clara Smith, who survives him. The family has lived in the west part of Glenwood for the past four years. Mr. Abel has purchased other residence properties in Glenwood. Mr. Abel was a devoted member of the Baptist church, and a man genial to all. He rejoiced to be with his old time friends and found pleasure in visiting them and having them visit him. He was interested in good citizenship and with him it was a vital matter.
