Description	:	Charles W. Varney died in Chelan at 5:30 o'clock on Sunday evening, October 20th, after a sickness of three weeks with typhoid fever. A funeral service was held at the M. E. church at 2 o'clock on Tuesday afternoon. The interment was postponed until 8 o'clock Wednesday morning, a waiting the arrival of the deceased mother and brother from Bremerton. Varney was born in Cedar County, Iowa, on April 1, 1869. While he was yet a mere child his parents moved to Nebraska and he grew to manhood in that state. As a young man he returned to Iowa and resided there until two years ago last spring, when he came with his family to the Chelan valley. He took up a homestead in Union valley and has worked energetically at building up a home there. He leaves a widow and four children, a daughter and three sons, to mourn their untimely loss. Of a family of ten brothers and sisters, grown to manhood and womanhood, his is the first to answer the call of death. His mother, Mrs. R. M. Ward of Bremerton, and three brothers, Harry and Will Varney of Lakeside and Clyde Varney of Bremerton, were present at the funeral.
