The funeral sermon was preached by the Rev. L. B. Carpenter of Villisca and he was assisted in the service by the Rev. Frank Moore of Grant. The singing was by a quartet composed of Mrs. F. A. Parker, Mrs. C. W. Givan, C. C. Anderson, and Fred Davis, and by J. M. Todd who sang a solo with Mrs. Earl Spiker s accompanist. The pall bearers were Frank DeWees, N. H. Jones, A. C. Stinemates, Earl Courcier, W. R. Corbin, and Fred Kenworthy, and interment was in the Grant Cemetery. Charles Walter Cozad was born in London Mills, Illinois, January 3, 1868, moving to Iowa when a boy. He spent the greater part of his life near Grant. He was united in marriage to Minnie E. Dotson on April 5, 1893 and to this union four children were born, of whom Mrs. H. L. Mercer of Pueblo, Colorado, survives. Mrs. Cozad died in 1901. In 1904 Mr. Cozad was united in marriage to Ida B. Wise and to this union two children were born, of whom Mrs. H. A. Arthur, Ames, Iowa, survives. He moved from this vicinity to Ames 7 years ago and wile residing there he has been employed at Iowa State College. During the past year he was forester in charge of the Civilian Conservation Corps Nursery at the college. He was stricken with influenza a few days preceding his death, pneumonia developing and resulting in his death. He united with the Methodist Church while living in Villisca and was a member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge here, also a charter member of the Modern Woodmen of America t Grant. Besides his wife and daughters, Mr. Cozad is survived by one grandson, Phillip Arthur and the following sisters and brothers, Mrs. Delia Atwood, Mrs. Lucy Blackburn, Benjamin F. and Martin B Cozad of Grant, and Albert L.
