Description	:	Charles W. Jakway, along with several other of his older siblings, was born in Belvidere, Illinois. His birth was during the years his family resided in Illinois after having moved west from their native New York. Charles grows to manhood in Buchanan County, Iowa, where his family moved subsequent to their time in Illinois. On Dec. 5, 1875, Charles Ward Jakway marries Alice May Peck, a niece of his aunt and uncle, Charles Henry Jakway and Eunice Linton Jakway, who they had raised since she was small. His birth was during the years his family resided in Illinois after having moved west from their native New York. Charles grows to manhood in Buchanan County, Iowa, where his family moved subsequent to their time in Illinois. On Dec. 5, 1875, Charles Ward Jakway marries Alice May Peck, a niece of his aunt and uncle, Charles Henry Jakway and Eunice Linton Jakway, who they had raised since she was small. In 1878, Charles W. and Alice have a son, Bernard. Charles W. Jakway dies in 1881, before his second child, Isabel, is born. Charles W. Jakway dies at a farmer's residence where he had stopped for dinner after a day of gathering cream. He entered the house and died suddenly of heart disease. He was only 31 years old. * * * On the 7th, a very sudden death occurred in Madison township. Charles A. (sic) Jakway, who was gathering cream on that day, stopped at a farmer's for dinner, and on going into the house instantly fell dead. His death is supposed to have been caused by heart disease. He leaves a wife and one child, and was a young man highly respected in the community where he lived. (Death notice in the JBCT, July 15, 1881)
