Description	:	Abram Thomas Jakway, son of Matilda and George Jakway, was born in Buffalo Grove, Buchanan county, Iowa on Aug. 15, 1856 and departed this life Friday, Aug. 6, 1943 at 11:50 p. m., being 86 years, 11 months, 21 days old. He was the fifth of a family of eight. He grew to young manhood in Buchanan county and on March 1st, 1882, he was united in marriage to Nancy Cordelia Russell of Crown Point, N. Y. Read More	Abram Thomas Jakway, son of Matilda and George Jakway, was born in Buffalo Grove, Buchanan county, Iowa on Aug. 15, 1856 and departed this life Friday, Aug. 6, 1943 at 11:50 p. m., being 86 years, 11 months, 21 days old. He was the fifth of a family of eight. He grew to young manhood in Buchanan county and on March 1st, 1882, he was united in marriage to Nancy Cordelia Russell of Crown Point, N. Y. This happy union continued for 51 years through the sunshine and shadow common to the lot of man. To this union four children were born, Mrs Jessie Thomas, Artesian, S. D., Carl C. Jakway of Oelwein, and Leta and June, having preceeded him in death. Mrs. Jakway passed away in 1933. Besides the two children he is survived by a sister, Mrs. Martha Schofield of Strawberry Point and an only grandchild, Mrs. Geraldine Jakway Haller, and a great grandson, Johnny Haller of Oshkosh, Wis. From the time of his marraige until 1910 they engaged in farming near Aurora. In 1910 he retired from the farm and moved to Oelwein where he has since resided. He was a great lover of children, a kind husband, father and neighbor, always ready to lend a helping hand. He will be missed by all who knew him, both young and old. The funeral was conducted Monday morning at 9 o'clock from the home, followed by services at 10 o'clock at the Methodist church in Aurora with Rev. Hodgkin of Aurora officiating. Mesdames A. C. Johnson and R. R. Allen sang two selections, "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In the Garden" accompanied by Mrs. Dale Miller, all of Aurora. Burial was made in Madison cemetery at Aurora.
