Read More	Charles was married to Ethel Frances Bascue on 12 August 1900 in Harlan county, Nebraska by JP G.C. Goddard. Charles Warren Skeels second son of Samuel N and Amanda Mitchell Skeels was born June 1 1876 His birthplace was only three blocks from the home in Republican City where he died. The call of death was answered at 8:35 p m April 21 1938. He had reached the age of 61 years 10 months and 20 days When but two years old he was stricken with the dread disease spinal meningitis, leaving him with maimed feet and legs which caused him much suffering. An injury at the age of 5 impaired the use of his right hand When he was 14 years of age death claimed his mother and when he was 17 his father died. For the next few years he made the major part of his living hunting and marketing quail in Indian Territory now Oklahoma. He returned to Republican City and engaged in the painting and decorating business which he learned from his father. On August 12 1900, he was united in marriage to Ethel F Bascue, and to them was born a son and daughter With the exception of short intervals he spent in other states the home has been maintained in Republican City, where he and his most helpful wife have worked hand in hand to provide the necessities of life and educational advantages for their children. During his childhood and youth, he attended Sunday School and church and learned the word of God. In later years, he frequently mentioned seeing God's hand in the great outdoors and said all the world was his church. He joined the Odd Fellows Lodge in Republican City on March 19 1898 and it took an active part, as long as his health permitted, having held all the offices and having been certified as a member of the Grand Lodge of Nebraska. His 40 years of membership have been rich in opportunities to practice Friendship, Love, and Truth toward his fellowmen. Of which opportunities he took full advantage. In 1933, a stroke came upon him, which left him further impaired and from which he never fully recovered. An added loss and shock came in 1935, when the daughter Marvel died. With increasing frequency, illness continued to take Its toll until the final summons brought blessed relief to a patient sufferer for whom no other relief was possible. He leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife Ethel and son Noble; three sisters Mrs. Lola Wintersteen of Republican City, Mrs. Jane Abrams of Lincoln, and Mrs. Daisy Duncan of Wray Colo.; two brothers Sylvester of Bonners Ferry, Idaho and John of Wray Colo. and many other relatives and friends Services were held in the home at 2 pm, April 23.
