Description	:	Charles W. Funk, former Milford resident passed away Monday at the Friend hospital. Funeral services were held Wednesday at Volland's chapel with Rev. Becker of Friend officiating. Funk, former Milford resident passed away Monday at the Friend hospital. Funeral services were held Wednesday at Volland's chapel with Rev. Becker of Friend officiating. Burial was at the Blue Mound Cemetery. Charles Wesley Funk, son of Mr. and Mrs. Allen and Eliza Funk was born on June 25, 1882 at Milford, Nebraska. Here he was educated and grew to manhood. As a young man he was a rural mail carrier for seven years. He then took up the barber business at which he worked for the most part of his life. He was united in marriage to Miss Marie Hill on July 7, 1905 at Lincoln, Nebr. He operated a barber shop here in Milford until the death of his wife in February 1939. He then moved to Lincoln where he was in business for a few years. He was united in marriage to Arzella Bennett on March 4, 1940 in Lincoln, Nebr. In May of 1940 they moved to Dorchester, Nebraska and opened up a Barber Shop and Beauty Parlor, where they worked together for four years, lacking three days, when on March 1, 1944 he was stricken with the illness which was the cause of his untimely death. For the past 17 months he has been a patient in the Warren Memorial Hospital of Friend. There he made many friends and proved himself to be a Christian gentleman at all times. He was always thoughtful and considerate of those who waited upon him and cared for him. About two weeks ago a decided change came upon him for the worse. He passed away quietly Monday morning at 5:15, November 12, 1945 at the age of 63 years 4 months and 20 days. Those who mourn his departure are his beloved wife, Mrs. Arzella Funk of Friend; two step-daughters, Mrs. Pearl Shadle of Lebanon, Pennsylvania; Mrs. Margaret Schmid of Hot Springs, Arkansas; one grandson, Randall McEwen of Belleville, Kansas; two sisters, Mrs. Luella Mark of Lincoln, and Mrs. Bessie Merrill of Sterling, Nebr.; eleven nephews and three nieces, besides many other relatives and a host of friends.
