Funk who as a boy helped his mother in the store and post office at East Milford, passed away July 20, 1929 at the home of his sister Mrs. Bessie Merrill at Gandy, Nebraska. Funk who as a boy helped his mother in the store and post office at East Milford, passed away July 20, 1929 at the home of his sister Mrs. Bessie Merrill at Gandy, Nebraska. Funeral services were held there on July 21 with burial at the Gandy cemetery. Edson Leroy Funk was born at Van Wert, Ohio June 3, 1872, and died at Gandy, Nebr. July 20, 1929, at the age of 57 years, 1 month and 17 days. At the age of nine he came with his parents to Nebraska and settled in Seward county where he lived until 1908. After that he spent several years in Lincoln, Nebr. and the last eight years with Rev. and Mrs. Merrill at Gandy. His father was called home to glory while Edson was yet a lad of 14 and being the oldest son, he was at once his mother's main help in the care of the store and post office at East Milford. His mother died in 1915.He was converted and united with the M. E. church at the age of 14. On his sick bed he said he was alright with God, and proved his trust in Jesus with such patience although he suffered much at times. He leaves to mourn his loss three sisters and two brothers: Mrs. Yetta V. Woods of Davis, Okla.; Mrs. Bessie L. Merrill of Gandy, Nebr.; Mrs. Luella M. Mark of Fern, Nebr.; Clifford I. Funk of Powell, Wyo. and Charles W. Funk of Milford; three nieces, eleven nephews and as many friends. Milford Review, Milford, NE, Thur, August 1, 1929
