Description	:	Charles Wilhelms was born May 22, 1858 in Pollenden, Hanover, Germany. In 1884 he migrated to America at age 26, staying a while in New York then went to Connecticut, and then coming to Chickasaw County in 1885. October 29, 1886 he was united in marriage to Anna Wiegrefe. His occupation during his active years was farming. He left the farm one mile west of Williamstown and came to New Hampton March 1, 1916. In 1884 he migrated to America at age 26, staying a while in New York then went to Connecticut, and then coming to Chickasaw County in 1885. October 29, 1886 he was united in marriage to Anna Wiegrefe. His occupation during his active years was farming. He left the farm one mile west of Williamstown and came to New Hampton March 1, 1916. Nine children were born to this union. Four preceded their father in death. Those surviving are Edward, Ira, Harry and Alvin. All are from the neighborhood, and one daughter, Clara Patrie of Marshfield, Wisconsin. These together with his wife, three sisters in Germany and thirteen grandchildren mourn his death. The deceased was a highly successful man in the thing he undertook. Sober, diligent and shrewd, he not only brought a large family to maturity, but gained a competence for himself. Tho not rich in the ordinary sense of the word, he was prosperpus; his declining could be spent in peace and rest. He was a lifelong member of the Lutheran church. He was a member of the congregation south of Williamstown until he came to New Hampton and transferred his membership to this congregation. Some weeks ago he went to the hospital and underwent a serious operation. He made a rapid recovery and was on the point of coming home when he took a slight cold. He recovered from it and came home when pneumonia set in and brought his life to an end Wednesday morning. Sunday morning he called Rev. William Engelke to his bedside and after an earnest confession he received the Lord's supper. We hope that his sins were forgiven in Christ Jesus and that he has gone to the eternal rest. He reached the age of 71 years, 1 month and 11 days. Son of Heinrich & Elizabeth Lena (Henrich) Wilhelms He traveled many times across the Atlantic Ocean. Thankfully missed the ship "Titanic" on one these trips, after having been a while in New York, and his return to England.
