October 26, 1867, and departed this life at his home at Monument, Kansas, February 15, 1934 aged sixty-six years, three months and twenty days. He was the eldest son of J.E. and Sarah Willars, and came to Kansas with his parents at the age of 13, where they settled on a farm southwest of Concordia, Kansas. Here he grew to manhood. October 26, 1867, and departed this life at his home at Monument, Kansas, February 15, 1934 aged sixty-six years, three months and twenty days. He was the eldest son of J.E. and Sarah Willars, and came to Kansas with his parents at the age of 13, where they settled on a farm southwest of Concordia, Kansas. Here he grew to manhood. On December 28, 1892 he was united in marriage to Lila Inez Everley, second child of S.O. and Anna Everley, now deceased, and took his bride to a farm adjoining his parents' home, where they resided for twenty-eight years. On their second wedding anniversary, Cecil Clayton Willars, an only child, was born. In the spring of 1921, Mr. Willars, with Mrs. Willars, moved to Concordia, Kansas. After living there four years, he moved to Monument, Kansas where he resided until the sudden call came, finding him at his usual daily tasks. From early manhood, he was associated with church and community activities, giving freely of his time, talents and means to further every good cause. He was chairman of the building committee, and took great pride in the completion of the new Methodist Episcopal Church at Monument, and worked unceasingly that it might be dedicated free from debt. His church membership remained with the class at Bethel. He was a progressive and successful farmer for many years, and took keen interest in watching the developments of Nature from the tiniest wild plant to the grains in the field. He was a man of sterling worth and integrity: a man of high ideals. He was a loving husband and a kind father - a good neighbor and a friend to the needy. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife, Mrs. Lila Willars; one son, Cecil Willars; a nephew, Oliver Everley, of the home, to whom he has given a father's care for 8 years; and one sister, Mrs. Geo. Smith, of Bellflower, California. His father, mother, three sisters, and an only brother, S.J. Willars, have preceded him in death. Besides the immediate relatives, a host of relatives and friends mourn his passing. Short services were held at the W.R. Bullen home in Minneapolis Sunday afternoon, Mrs. Bullen being a sister of Mrs. Willars, after which the body was taken to the Bethel Church, where services were conducted by Rev. Jas. G. Roberts of Belleville, who was assisted by Rev. L.R. Fish of Delphos. The Pilcher male quartet sang at both the home and the church. Burial was made in the Bethel Cemetery.
